Inaugural Flags of Valor - Manchester Remembers 9/11 Event

In partnership with the City of Manchester, the inaugural Flags of Valor – Manchester Remembers 9/11 event will be held in the City of Manchester, Sept. 9 -15 at the Margaret A. Stoecker Park.

The installation will honor the 412 First Responders who valiantly gave up their lives in the quest to rescue the men and women injured and trapped in the 9/11 terrorist attack.

Each medic, firefighter and police officer will be recognized through a photo paired with a 3’ x 5’ flag to recognize and honor their life and to hold fast to the promise never to forget the heroes from the largest terrorist attack on American soil. A special flag will be flown to recognize the approximately 350 First Responders who have since died from 9/11-related illnesses. The display will also include six large boards with pictures and information on each of the civilian victims who were killed in the 9/11 attacks.

More than a donation.
A name. A story. A connection.

They all have names. They are our fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, family, and friends. They played baseball and loved cars, remembered your birthday, and gave big bear hugs. They were always there when we needed them most.

For every $50 donation, you will be randomly assigned a fallen hero and a flag on Art Hill. $100 adopts two heroes, $150 adopts three, and so on…

You will receive an email with their name, rank, branch, and flag location, giving you the opportunity to learn their story before visiting the memorial.

From September 5–13, you can walk the field and find their flag.

HOW IT WORKS:
1. Make a Donation
Give $50 or more to support Flags of Valor STL.

2. Receive Your Hero Assignment
You will be emailed a fallen hero’s name, along with their rank, branch, and flag number on Art Hill.

3. Learn Their Story
Take a few moments to understand who they were and the life they lived.

4. Find Their Flag
Visit Art Hill between September 5–13 and locate their flag in the field.

5. Carry Their Name Forward
Share their story. Say their name. Help ensure they are never forgotten.

This is not a flag you take home. It is a moment you carry with you. Following the event, all flags will be honorably secured and stored to use in the 2031 memorial display.

Sponsor a Flag. Honor a Hero.

The flag is a symbol of freedom, unity and sacrifice. You or your organization can do your part to honor the fallen by sponsoring these three by five-foot pieces of the fabric of our nation. When you sponsor a flag, you’re not just supporting a memorial. You’re honoring a life. Donations of $50 or more are randomly assigned a fallen hero and a flag on Art Hill. You’ll receive their name, rank, branch, and flag location so you can learn their story before you visit. From September 5–13, you can walk the field and find their flag. A moment that turns remembrance into something deeply personal. This is now your hero to remember.
